What is the Members Association Council?
Made up of Seattle Sounders FC Members, the Council is a way to get more involved in club affairs and serve as a liaison between Members and ownership.
How do I become a member of Council?
You are nominated to Council by other Members of the Association. Council members need 25 nominations from other Members in order to sit on Council.
How does the voting process work?
Prospective Council members can only be nominated by Members of the Association.
Members wishing to nominate a fellow member onto Council will send the person’s name to Sounders FC. 25 nominations must be received for the prospective Council member to be ‘elected’ to Council.
Each Member may nominate only one person to Council. You will not be allowed to nominate for multiple Council members. In addition, you may only send one nomination per prospective Council member.
Once nominated to Council, is there anything else I need to do before attending meetings?
Yes, Council members will be asked to sign an acknowledgement of duties.
Why will I be asked to sign an acknowledgement of duties?
Council members need to be committed to the Council and their duties. We want serious people involved so we can wisely proceed with the Members Association.
What has Council done?
Alliance Council members planned the 2009 Supporters Summit as part of the MLS Cup festivities in 2009. Members of Council have advised the club on gameday experience decisions. Council has also crafted a Constitution, By Laws and requested a Charter from the club for future operations.
