Adrian Hanauer
Adrian Hanauer is formerly the majority owner of the Seattle Sounders professional soccer club, of the United Soccer League’s First Division. The Sounders won the USL Championship in 2005 and 2007 and have had success on and off the pitch.
In addition to league play, Hanauer has promoted international matches including matches versus Club America, Sunderland, Cardiff City FC, Preston North End, and numerous clubs from Major League Soccer. He also promoted a match between Real Madrid and DC United that sold-out Qwest Field with the largest soccer crowd in Seattle history – 66,612.
Hanauer has also recently become one of the largest shareholders in Cambridge United Football Club of the English Conference.
With over 15 years of business experience in a variety of other industries. Hanauer has invested in numerous early stage technology companies in advertising, infrastructure, and wireless communications and was a seed stage investor in aQuantive Inc, the largest interactive advertising company which was recently acquired by Microsoft for 6 billion US dollars. He was also an early investor in Amazon.com.
Hanauer also brings a great deal of "brick and mortar" business experience. The Hanauer family owns the nation's largest manufacturer of pillows, comforters, and bedding products. He also owns one of the largest chains of picture framing companies in the United States, as well as a small chain of pizza restaurants.
Involved in many organizations in Seattle, Hanauer sits on the Board of Trustees for the Museum of History and Industry. He has also sat on the advisory board of The University of Washington Intercollegiate Sports Master's Degree Program.
