Moderator on the soundersfc.com forum, member of ECS, participant with GFC and IF, active in online forum communities. Big with Immortal Flag Initiative, getting flags into the hands of hundreds for many Sounders games in Seattle, Portland, San Jose and Washington DC. I define a "Great Match" by how we do in the stands, as well as by how our Sounders do on the pitch.

Active participant in ECS events, GFC fundraiser, MLS Cup Weekend. Always looking to bring a sense of history to the community and to the newer fans. Always looking for the positive spin, for a way to feel good and do good for our Sounders and our community.

Erik played as a youth player and won several State championships. He then won a State CC championship with Green River CC. At 19 he walked on and made the Sounder team, ask Alan Hinton how good Erik is, he at 41 still better than Nate Jaqua for 45 minutes. He played for the Hibernian Saints and won 5 National titles with them.
He now works as a coach for The Crossfire Soccer club and plays for FTI's over fortys. I guess that puts him into Bernie Jame's camp but he is his own man, ask Dickie McCormick.

Erik was a teacher and coach for 36 years in the Renton Schhool District. I might say with some success, taking 27 teams to state competition in 3 different sports, not including track where he had most of his real moments, including coaching 3 state champiion 800 meter runners. The best was John Cote who still owns the state record.
Why should you receive the Golden Scarf?
Erik was a good Sounder for years and still supports the team.

I want to nominate legendary youth coach Geoff Wall Sr. (father of former Sounder and Tacoma Stars player Geoff Wall Jr.). Before the SYSA, there was Geoff Wall organizing soccer games for kids. He ran a program called "Greenwood Soccer" - it was THE soccer league in northwest Seattle. He put together rag tag groups of kids and turned them into teams with his inimitable style. Several of his players, like his own son, went on to college and the pros (I was one of those kids). We learned many valuable lessons about life through soccer from Mr. Wall.

Me? I grew up in Greenwood Soccer, Ballard High School, then Pacific Lutheran University varsity and in England. Then men's open league for many years. And today still play in GSSL.
I am an attorney working in philanthropy, founder of Seattle's National Film Festival for Talented Youth the nation's largest youth film festival. We have an action sports category - want to do some partnering on that to promote involvement of kids - maybe videos they could make on "what soccer means to me". I am involved with board work for many non profits including PATH and Seattle Pacific University.
Why should you receive the Golden Scarf?
I want to nominate legendary youth coach Geoff Wall Sr.
