All five of our children (3 girls & 2 boys) played soccer throughout elementary school and high school. My wife coached our daughters in soccer for many years, while I made a fool of myself cheering on the sidelines like any proud father would. Soccer has always been an integral part of our family's life in Seattle, and a great source of fun and entertainment. Many of our friends, and our children's friends, are people we have met by being involved with soccer. In many ways, soccer and Seattle are inseparable for our family.

In 1995, I battled stage-4 Hodgkin's Disease. After an intensive six months of chemotherapy, the cancer was put in remission. As a result of that experience, my wife and I became very involved with the Washington/Alaska Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, doing marathons around the world with their Team In Training program. I proudly served on their Board of Trustees for six years. My wife and I are also very involved with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and their annual Dream Gala auction/dinner. Currently, I also serve on the Board of Directors for the 5th Avenue Theatre.
Why should you receive the Golden Scarf?
I am a true blue Sounders fan. I would be honored to own a Golden Scarf, and to proudly display it.

Along with a few other supporters, I am organizing a group that will give Sounders tickets, kits, shoes to worthy kid(s) that show hard work on and off the field. I also recently helped Steve Zakuani with creating the website for his soccer foundation Kingdome-hope.org
