MLS Experience
2010: Started two of four matches, logging 241 minutes. Recorded first career MLS assists vs. CHI (8/28). Started eight of 11 appearances in all competitions, playing 856 minutes. First action of the season was as a reserve at RSL (4/10).
2009: Started nine of 12 appearances and dressed for 30 of 32. Seattle debut was as a key reserve, playing final 72 minutes at left back in 1-1 draw at DAL (5/16). Started for first time and played the full 90 minutes vs. CLB (5/30). Appeared in all six U.S. Open Cup games, starting and playing the full 90 in five, including the final at DC (9/2).
2008: Began season as starter alongside team captain Jimmy Conrad in central defense, starting the first nine games of the year, and the final seven regular season games and both postseason matches for Kansas City. Started all 16 appearances.
2007: Played in six matches, starting four in second season as a professional for Kansas City. Started 11 of 12 reserve matches, going all 90 minutes in every start.
2006: Selected in the second round of the SuperDraft (19th overall) by Kansas City. Played in 10 games, starting six. Made professional debut, replacing Jack Jewsbury in extra time in 2-1 win at Houston (4/8). Started third straight game on the back line, holding the opposition to just two shots on goal in 1-0 loss at DC United (6/24). Made first start in nine games and played the full 90 in 2-1 loss at Los Angeles (9/2).
International Experience
Involved with the U.S. U-20 and U-17 residency programs and played in the U-17 World Youth Championships in 2001.
College
An All-American defender at the University of California, where he started every game during four-year career. Anchored the Golden Bears defense to a 15-4-2 record in 2005 and into the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament. Finished the season with five goals and one assist. Recorded two assists and named to All-Pac-10 second team and Pac-10 All-Academic second-team as a junior. Recorded two goals, including the game winner against Washington while being named honorable mention All-Pac-10 his sophomore season. Started all 22 games in midfield as a true freshman.
High School/Club
Three-time All-CIF recognition. Won U-18 club state championship with the Irvine Strikers. Attended U-20 and U-17 residency National Team camps.
Son of Larry and Kim. Has three siblings: Jarrett, Ashlee and Chris. Has traveled to play soccer in Bolivia, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany, Trinidad-Tobago, Mexico and Canada.
