Be a part of the Sounders FC Youth Development Program
The Sounders FC Youth Development Program (YDP) features six week position specific programs. The YDP will be instructed by the finest coaches in the northwest and the training program is designed for the serious soccer player.
The Sounders FC, in cooperation with Washington Youth Soccer, would like to invite you to participate in the YDP. Created as a supplementary program to compliment the current youth soccer club experience for the serious young soccer player, the YDP will run six week programs throughout the year working on the technical and tactical pieces of the game of soccer specific to the positions on the field. Through encouragement, motivation, and appropriate pressure, the coaches will work to advance the individual game of each participant.
The schedule for 2009 is listed below and each YDP six week segment will run position specific training for goalkeepers, defenders, midfield players, and strikers on Monday nights at Starfire Sports Complex. There will be satellite YDP trainings announced through the year as they are scheduled. There will be a limited number accepted for each age group and position specific training. There are two age groups for training with the younger group (8-12 years old 5pm to 6:30pm) and the older group (13-17 years old 6:30pm to 8pm) training on the specified Monday nights at Starfire Sports Complex.
The emphasis for the YDP training will be on development as a soccer player, citizenship in your community, and the expression of your individual personality within the game.
