Why did you want to be a Council Member?
I wanted to make a contribution to the whole Sounders community. That’s the official answer. The unofficial answer is that I was really frustrated trying to contact the council, and couldn’t find a way to do so. Well, I’d rather make a difference than complain, so I took it on. Sounders had no capacity for a suite owner to vote, let alone run in an election. When I walked around the stadium to talk with season ticket holders, I found that most of them hadn’t a clue that there even was a council. So at that point I was determined. Three seasons later, my efforts paid off. I got to vote, and I got elected.
What are your goals as a Council Member?
I adore the supporter clubs, and I love sitting in the North End where I can see the tifos so well. But we’ve got tons of kids in the North End – I really want to get photographs of them and their posters, painted faces, and other North End supportive efforts recognized, photographed, and posted online.
When did you know that the Sounders would be a 'big deal?'
The very first time I stood for ninety minutes – girly shoes, blisters, and all.
