Seattle Sounders FC and Symetra Financial Team Up to Launch 'Together We Play'

Program Promotes Healthy, Active Lifestyles to Kids

RENTON, Wash. -The Seattle Sounders FC and Symetra Financial have launched a new community outreach program - "Together We Play" - to teach local elementary school students about healthy and active lifestyles.

The "Together We Play" program brings Sounders FC players and coaches to King County-area elementary schools during the Major League Soccer (MLS) season to promote health and fitness. Through discussion and interactive soccer drills, kids learn from the pros that eating healthy and staying active can go a long way in helping them achieve their goals, both inside and outside of school. Student participants receive a T-shirt, Sounders FC team poster and other prizes.

"The Sounders FC take great pride in partnering with Symetra Financial to create Together We Play," said Mike Flood, vice president of Community Relations for Sounders FC, "With school appearances and encouragement from Sounders FC players, this program emphasizes physical activity and strengthens communities through the mutual bond of soccer."

Also participating in the program is Kibble & Prentice, one of the largest insurance brokerage and investment consulting firms in the Northwest, and a Symetra distribution partner.

"The Together We Play program supports two of Symetra's community focus areas - education and wellness," said Jim Pirak, senior vice president of Corporate Marketing. "We're delighted to partner with the Sounders FC and Kibble & Prentice to bring an important message to kids in a fun, engaging way."

"We are pleased to be able to partner with Symetra and the Seattle Sounders on this important program," said Chris Prentice, CEO of Kibble & Prentice. "We are dedicated to supporting children and families in our region, and we share Symetra's commitment to educating young people about the benefits of living healthy and active lifestyles."

The inaugural Together We Play visit took place at Hazelwood Elementary School in Newcastle, Wash. The program will include visits to at least eight elementary schools between now and October, the end of the MLS regular season.
