UPDATE 4/22 8:54pm: Steve Zakuani has suffered a broken tibia and fibula.

UPDATE 4/23 3:07am: The following are the reactions of his teammates and head coach Sigi Schmid after the match.

Sigi Schmid - “It’s a big blow for our team.  He’s going to be out for quite a while.  How do we adjust?  Other people have to step up.  It’s part of the game as well that things like that happen.  Right now my thoughts are with Steve getting well and getting healthy as soon as he can.”

James Riley - “Everyone’s devastated, not only for the loss of Stevie, but just the way we displayed ourselves today.  It definitely felt like a loss even though we won the game 1-0.  We’ve got a lot of film to watch and a lot of things to change.  To have what happened to Stevie is unfortunate.  We’ll be praying for him and wishing him a speedy recovery.  I’m devastated for that.  It was unbelievable.”

Fredy Montero - “It’s sad to see a teammate go out like that.  He’s a very important player.  We just have to continue moving ahead with whoever replaces him at this point.  But it’s sad to lose him like that.”

Patrick Ianni - “We talked about wanting to win this game for Steve, certainly.  I’m glad we did.  Hopefully we can win some more without him - it‘s going to be a lot tougher without him, but we have a lot of capable guys.  It’s a terrible feeling.  He’s a great player and a great friend, but he’ll be back.  He’s pushing himself into the elite of the league and when he comes back I’m confident he’ll put himself back there.  He’s a great personality and a great teammate.  He works hard and he cares about everyone.  It’s going to be a hard hit for our team for sure.  You could see all of the guys on the field were devastated by it.”
