Mexico's roster announced for Seattle match

Roster announced today by Mexican Federation will also serve for the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

NEW YORK (SUM Communications)- Mexican National Team Head Coach José Manuel "Chepo" de la Torre announced today the 23-player roster for the national team's upcoming U.S. Tour matches in Seattle and Denver, as well as for this summer's 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Mexico will face Ecuador on Saturday, May 28 (4 p.m. ET) at the Xbox Pitch at Qwest Field in Seattle, Washington, before traveling to face the New Zealand national team on Wednesday, June 1 (10 p.m. ET) at INVESCO Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado. Both tour matches will prove to be key in the Mexican national team's preparation ahead of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, which will kick-off in Dallas on June 5.  

Tickets for the Seattle and Denver matches are still available and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com, by calling 1-800-745-3000 or at all usual Ticketmaster locations. Tickets for the Denver match can also be purchased at INVESCO Field at Mile High Box Office located near Lot B, Monday- Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MT.  Gold Cup tickets are available at goldcup.org.  

"El Tri's" roster includes several European-based standouts, including midfielder Andrés Guardado (Deportivo La Coruña of Spain), forwards Giovanni dos Santos (Racing Santander of Spain) and Pablo Barrera (West Ham United of England). Also joining the squad is New York Red Bulls (MLS) star defender Rafael Márquez. Perennial Mexican captain Márquez is enjoying his second season as the anchor of the Red Bulls defense. Guardado has played almost 100 career games with Deportivo La Coruña. Another important player in Mexico's offensive attack is Dos Santos, who has started a number of matches for Racing Santander this season.   Mexico's rivals, Ecuador and New Zealand, are expected to announce their respective rosters soon.

Goalkeepers: Guillermo Ochoa (Club América/MEX), Alfredo Talavera (Toluca/MEX), Jose de Jesús Corona (Cruz Azul/MEX).  

Defenders: Rafa Márquez (New York Red Bulls/USA), Carlos Salcido (Fulham/ENG), Héctor Moreno (AZ Alkmaar/NED),Francisco Javier Rodríguez (PSV Eindhoven/NED), Ricardo Osorio (Monterrey/MEX), Edgar Dueñas (Toluca/MEX), Jorge Torres Nilo (Tigres/MEX).  

Midfielders: Andrés Guardado (Deportivo La Coruña/ESP), Efraín Juarez (Celtic Glasgow/SCO), Israel Castro (UNAM/MEX), Antonio Naelson Sinha (Toluca/MEX), Luis Pérez (Monterrey/MEX), Gerardo Torrado (Cruz Azul/MEX), Angel Reyna (Club America/MEX), Jesus Zavala (Monterrey/MEX).  

Forwards: Javier Hernández* (Manchester United/ENG),Giovanni dos Santos (Racing de Santander/SPA), Pablo Barrera (West Ham United/ENG), Aldo de Nigris (Monterrey/MEX), Elías Hernández (Morelia/MEX)

*Javier Hernandez is scheduled to join the Mexican national team in Dallas prior to the start of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
