Sounders FC and Coca-Cola Bring “Full 90 for Life” to Local Youth

$100,000 donation will launch health and wellness initiative at Boys & Girls Club

Full 90SEATTLE - The Seattle Sounders FC and Coca-Cola Refreshments announced a donation of $100,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of King County to support the organization’s healthy and active living programs. The “Full 90 for Life” initiative, which will focus on nutrition education and teaching soccer skills to youth, will launch in the fall of 2011 at the Boys and Girls Club Smilow Clubhouse at Rainier Vista.

“We couldn’t ask for greater partners than Coca-Cola and the Sounders. The Full 90 for Life program will help us connect kids in high need communities with soccer and healthy lifestyles. We’re so excited to roll this out in the fall.” Daniel Johnson, President and CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of King County.

“We are excited to launch this pilot program in partnership with Coca-Cola Refreshments and the Boys & Girls Club of King County,” said Sounders FC president Joe Roth. “The Full 90 for Life program is designed to share the love of the game, soccer and coaching skills and tips to live a healthy and active life.”

The Sounders FC and Boys & Girls Clubs of King County will collaborate on soccer specific curriculum, coaching instruction and symposium sessions with Sounders FC players and coaches throughout the ten week program. Sixty youth will participate in the pilot program at the Smilow Clubhouse. The program also includes an equipment donation of goals, soccer balls, soccer ball bags, cones and bibs.

Coca-Cola has provided strong support for Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the youth served by their Clubs. From providing financial support, to encouraging its employees to devote volunteer hours serving Club youth, Coca-Cola has consistently demonstrated its commitment to improving the quality of life for America’s young people. Locally, Coca-Cola partners with Boys & Girls Clubs of King County on healthy, active living initiatives. The goal of these initiatives is to engage youth in nutrition education, exercise and teamwork, while encouraging kids to enjoy physical activity and to develop self-reliance.
