Brad Evans named MLS Player of the Week

Evans scored two goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-1 win over FC Dallas on Sunday and also filled in as defender in a scoreless draw against Real Salt Lake.

NEW YORK – Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Brad Evans has been voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 33. Evans scored two goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-1 win over FC Dallas on Sunday and also filled in as defender in a scoreless draw against Real Salt Lake.

It is the first time that Evans has been voted MLS Player of the Week in his six-year career.

Evans started at right back in Seattle’s midweek draw with Real Salt Lake, and filled in as center back after going a man down. Four days later, he converted a first-half penalty and then regained the lead in the second-half to lead Sounders FC to a 3-1 win against FC Dallas.

It is the fourth time this season that a Sounders FC player has been honored. David Estrada won the award in Week 2 and Eddie Johnson was honored in Week 22 and Week 27.
