Two Seattle Sounders have been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 29 following the club's dramatic 2-1 win on the road over Austin FC on Wednesday. Goalkeeper Stefan Frei earned a spot as a starter on the league-wide team, while Nicolás Lodeiro was named to the bench.
In need of three points to maintain their place in the Western Conference standings, Frei put in a Man of the Match performance against Austin. The veteran goalkeeper produced five saves to preserve the win, including an acrobatic dive in the top corner to deny Memo Rodriguez and a stunning reflex save to claw an Emiliano Rigoni shot off the line from point-blank range.
Operating as the No. 10 in a youthful lineup, Lodeiro put in a commanding shift in midfield. The Uruguayan playmaker tallied an assist on Jordan Morris' goal in the 48th minute and then supplied the cross that eventually fell to Albert Rusnák for the game-winning goal in the 90th minute.
