Help support disaster relief

Seattle Sounders FC and American Red Cross encourage fans to help raise money this Saturday vs. Whitecaps FC for those affected by the Taylor Bridge Fire in Eastern Washington.

UPDATE: As of August 17th more than 22,700 acres have burned in the Taylor Bridge Fire and the fire is approximately 33% contained. Weather conditions continue to threaten the growth of the wildfires. There is no estimated date of containment. Voluntary evacuations remain in effect for 900 residents. There are more than 955 personnel supporting the firefighting efforts.


RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Sounders FC and American Red Cross are teaming up to raise money for those affected by the Taylor Bridge Fire in Eastern Washington as well as wildfires across the U.S. at the Sounders FC match versus Vancouver Whitecaps on August 18.

The Sounders FC five community partners will station volunteers at all gates to collect cash donations, including:  America SCORES Seattle, Boys & Girls Clubs of King County and Bellevue, Special Olympics Washington, Washington Global Health Alliance and Washington Youth Soccer.  Volunteers will collect donations through halftime. 

The American Red Cross continues to provide support to those affected by the Taylor Bridge Fire that has already forced 1,000 people to evacuate and destroyed almost 70 homes and hundreds of buildings.  As of today, the fire has spread to 22,000 acres and some 800 firefighters are on the ground.

Fans can help people affected by disasters like the Taylor Bridge Fire, as well as countless crises at home and around the world, by making a donation to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief. A gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for and provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance in response to disasters.
