Reserve League: Seattle Sounders FC 2 at Portland Timbers 3

The Sounders Reserves fall to Timbers Reserves, 3-2, at JELD-WEN Field.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Sounders FC Reserves (3-5-1, 10 points) scored two second half goals but it wasn’t enough in a 3-2 defeat to the Portland Timbers Reserves (4-5-1, 13 points) in front of 8,968 at JELD-WEN Field.

David Estrada made his first competitive appearance since June 5th when he came on as a halftime substitute. The 24-year-old has been on the disabled list since June 15thwith a foot fracture. In the 68th minute, he blasted a one-time shot from the top of the box but the shot sailed just high.

Sounders FC Reserves received goals from Sounders FC Academy players Jordan Morris and Isidro Prado-Huerta. In the 49th minute, Alex Caskey played a ball into the box from the right side of play, and Morris dove in front of a defender to head it past the keeper.

In the 78th, Dom Dismuke collected the ball deep inside the box and left it in front of the net for midfielder Prado-Huerta, who put it past North to make the score 3-2.

The Timbers Reserves scored all three goals within the first 15 minutes of play. Forward Kris Boyd scored a goal and added an assist, while forwards Mike Fucito and Brent Richards each scored a goal in Portland’s win.

Fucito got the Timbers Reserves on the board in the third minute. Boyd played the ball high in the air, toward the penalty spot, and after a mis-clearance Fucito finished a wide-open attempt from 12 yards out.

Just four minutes later, Boyd scored to make the score 2-0. Portland midfielder Kalif Alhassan played a through ball to Boyd into the box, who immediately chipped the ball over Ford for the goal.

The third goal for the Timbers Reserves came from Richards in the 15th minute. Ian Hogg crossed the ball in and Josh Ford came off his line to clear a cross but was tripped up, allowing Brett Richards to put it in.

The Reserve League season concludes for Sounders FC next Sunday when Seattle hosts the San Jose Earthquakes at Starfire Sports Stadium.
