After just 12 matches, Chivas USA has replaced head coach Jose Luis Sanchez Sola.
There was no hiding the struggles of Chivas USA this year. After starting the season 3-1-1, Seattle’s opponent on Saturday at The Home Depot Center went winless in their next seven matches, falling to the bottom of the Western Conference at 3-7-2.
As a result, head coach Jose Luis Sanchez Sola was replaced as head coach on Wednesday by Jose Luis Real Casillas, who also acts as sporting development director at Chivas de Guadalajara.
Sanchez Sola, better known by his nickname “El Chelis,” came to Chivas amidst much fanfare and he promised big things for the organization, vowing to turn the club around by changing the mentality of the players on his club and by implementing 3-5-2 formation. However, teams quickly adjusted to the formation – which is not often used in MLS – and were outscored 13-1 in their last four matches.
The Sounders will meet Chivas USA on Saturday at 7:30 pm PT at The Home Depot Center.
