RENTON, Wash. – Seattle Sounders FC has loaned out forward Eriq Zavaleta to the San Antonio Scorpions FC of the North American Soccer League, the club announced today. Sounders FC will recall Zavaleta on June 23.

Zavaleta, 20, was selected by Seattle in the first round (10th overall) of the 2013 MLS SuperDraft. Zavaleta, who was the nation’s third-leading scorer in 2012 and won the College Cup with Indiana, made his MLS debut on March 23, playing the final six minutes at San Jose. He has started all five MLS Reserve League games for Sounders FC with one goal.

San Antonio will play the Tampa Bay Rowdies on June 15 and FC Edmonton on June 22. Seattle’s next MLS match is June 22 at Real Salt Lake.
