The Sounders topped RSL 2-0 in the Reserve League on Saturday.
TUKWILA, Wash. - David Estrada and Patrick Ianni scored as Seattle Sounders FC (3-6-2, 11 points) beat Real Salt Lake (5-4-4, 19 points), 2-0, in the MLS Reserve League on Saturday afternoon at Starfire Stadium.
Estrada scored Seattle's first goal in the 13th minute. Philip Lund beat his defender to the end line and found Estrada in the box, who rocketed a shot from 15-yards to the top far corner.
Ianni doubled the lead in the 54th minute. Blair Gavin sent in a free kick from the left flank that Ianni headed at the far post to the opposite side netting.
Salt Lake nearly pulled one back in second-half stoppage time when Sebastian Velasquez found Fito Ovalle with a Backheel in the box. Ovalle's hard shot was parried out by Marcus Hahnemann for a corner kick.
Seattle was outshot by Salt Lake, 16-6, including 5-4 on goal. Hahnemann made five saves to preserve the shutout.
Cole Grossman curled a long-range shot on frame in the 23rd minute that Marcus Hahnemann stopped. Hahnemann stopped another attempt from Grossman in the 79th minute when he blasted a shot from just outside the box.
In the 44th minute, Salt Lake sent a corner kick to the far post where Benji Lopez headed it into Hahnemann's chest. One minute later, Sebastian Velasquez ripped a shot from 10-yards that was saved by Hahnemann.
Both teams have one more MLS Reserve League match remaining this season. Sounders FC will conclude the season at Portland on October 14 while Salt Lake hosts Chivas USA on September 24.
