At next week’s 80th annual MTR Western 2015 Sports Star of the Year Awards, Sounders FC forwards Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins will both be up for Male Sports Star of the Year. Sounders FC is also nominated for Sports Story of the Year for clinching its first-ever Major League Soccer Supporters' Shield.
The event will occur at Benaroya Hall next Wednesday evening. It first took place in 1936, when it was created by Royal Brougham and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. A variety of awards are presented at this event that celebrates the achievements of athletes and teams in Washington.
Supporters can vote once a day from now until the day of the awards. Click here to vote.
