The Seattle Sounders competitive play for 2016 got off to an earlier-than-usual start for the year, but we're just getting started.
Next week will feature not one, but TWO (we're pumped!) matches: The second leg of the all-important Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals in Mexico City against Club America and our regular season home opener at CenturyLink Field against Sporting Kansas City.
As if there's not enough to do and see this week, our pals over at MLS are producing an extra special Soccer Sunday, appropriately titled MLS Soccer Sunday: WEEK 1 LIVE. Week 1 LIVE, which will provide four hours of coverage starting at 10 a.m. PT on March 6, will feature previews and live look-ins at all of the morning matches leading up to the four nationally broadcast matches, including SEAvSKC at 4 p.m. PT.
Talent will include:
- Russ Thaler, host
- Jason Kreis, former MLS player and coach
- Heath Pearce, KICKTV personality, former U.S. Men’s National Team defender and MLS player
- Calen Carr, former MLS player with the Chicago Fire and Houston Dynamo
- Peter Walton, GM of Professional Referees Organization (PRO)
- Matt Doyle, MLSsoccer.com’s Armchair Analyst
- Diego Pinzon, FutbolMLS.com editor
- Kevin Brown, Fusion personality
- Katie Witham, long-time MLSsoccer.com on-air contributor
In addition, MLS have Kristen Kenney reporting on location in Chicago and Jillian Sakovits live from Portland.
No live show would be complete without hearing from the fans. We'll have social media correspondents at all 10 venues, and we'll be integrating social media activity and user-generated content curated through the hashtag #SoccerSunday.
So join us. It's going to be awesome, and the perfect way to get ready for the 2016 MLS season and the first Soccer Sunday of the year.
