Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei has been nominated for the MLS Save of the Week after his dramatic penalty kick stop last weekend against the Colorado Rapids.
Frei stoned Rapids forward Shkelzen Gashi from the spot in the in the 67th minute of the Sounders’ 3-1 loss in Colorado on Saturday night. Frei guessed correctly on the attempt and made the diving save, his first successful save on a penalty kick in three tries this year.
Frei has now stopped four of 28 penalty kick attempts in his career, including three of 13 attempts with Seattle.
