RECORDS AND STANDINGS: Sounders (4-7-1, 13 points, 9th in the Western Conference), D.C. United (4-5-4, 16 points, 5th in the Eastern Conference)

ALL-TIME HISTORY: The Sounders have historically been good against D.C. United, claiming a 6-2-2 all-time record. They’ve also claimed the last three results, and haven’t lost to D.C. since 2011.

THE LONG ROAD AHEAD: After last weekend’s disappointing loss at New England Revolution, the Sounders are now 0-4-1 away from CenturyLink Field. Wednesday’s match against D.C. United is the second of a three match road trip, during which the Sounders will continue to search for their first road win of the season. The Rave Green return to CenturyLink on June 25 to face New York City FC.

FOR COUNTRY PART 2: The Sounders will continue to play without both of their DP forwards, Clint Dempsey and Nelson Valdez, this Wednesday as both players are with their national teams for Copa America Centenario, which kicks off this week. D.C. United will play without defender Steve Birnbaum who was called into the U.S. camp and forward Álvaro Saborío who was called into Costa Rica. Saborío leads the Black and Red in goals with four this season.

INJURY UPDATE: Defender Chad Marshall was absent from the lineup once again on Saturday with a right hamstring strain. Head coach Sigi Schmid indicated that he wasn’t quite ready for Saturday but might be good to go for Wednesday. Forward Oalex Anderson is recovering from his hamstring strain picked up against Colorado and is still questionable for Wednesday. Defender Brad Evans left Saturday's match after sustaining a knock to the head which Schmid only called a "head injury" in his post-match press conference.

A PAIR OF FIRSTS: Forward Aaron Kovar grabbed his first MLS goal on Saturday when he brilliantly chipped a ball over a defender and finished it into the far post corner. Rookie Tony Alfaro made his first appearance for the Sounders that same night when he replaced Evans in the 40th minute. Alfaro has been a staple for the club’s USL side, Seattle Sounders FC 2, after being drafted in the first round this offseason. With both starting center backs struggling with injury, it may be the first of many appearances for the youngster.

2-5-3: The Sounders will reunite with an old friend when they take the field on Wednesday. Federal Way’s own Lamar Neagle was traded to D.C. United this offseason after spending five seasons with the Rave Green. Neagle recorded 26 goals and 17 assists during his time with Seattle. He has started all 13 games this season for D.C. and contributed two goals and three assists.

CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH: United goalkeeper Bill Hamid made his season debut on Friday after returning from a meniscus tear in his right knee. The 2014 Goalkeeper of the Year recorded a shutout away at Sporting Kansas City. The Sounders have faced Hamid twice before and scored one goal in each affair.

NEW RECORD IN DC: D.C. forward Alhaji Kamara made his MLS debut on Friday when he subbed on in the 85th minute and scored in the first the 33 seconds. The goal set a record for fastest goal from a player making his MLS debut.
