Cristian Roldan is quietly having himself one heck of a season. At the tender age of 21, Roldan has been a staple for the Sounders this season, playing in 12 of 13 matches and starting in nine of them. As a reward for his efforts, Roldan has been named to MLS Team of the Week for his performance against D.C. United on Wednesday, his first such honor of his career and sixth for the Sounders this season.
In the match, Roldan logged 90 minutes, completed 36 of 45 passes, and recorded one shot that skimmed across the face of goal. Teammate Osvaldo Alonso was up for MLS Player of the Week but fell short, with the nod going to Philadelphia’s Chris Pontius.
