Osvaldo Alonso, Nicolas Lodeiro, Roman Torres nominated for Futbol MLS’ Latin American Player of the Year

Futbol MLS has nominated three Seattle Sounders for 2016’s Latin American Player of the Year.


Midfielders Osvaldo Alonso and Nicolas Lodeiro and defender Roman Torres are part of 16 members across Major League Soccer up for the award, which began in 2010. Players of Latin American decent are also eligible, such as New York Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles, who was born in Arizona to a Puerto Rican father and Korean mother.


Voting for the first round ends Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. PT. The quarterfinal round begins on Thursday. You can vote here.


Alonso, Lodeiro and Torres are joined by the following finalists (no specific order):

- Mauro Diaz (FC Dallas, Argentina)

- Carlos Gruezo (FC Dallas, Ecuador)


- Maxi Urruti (FC Dallas, Argentina)


- Luciano Acosta (D.C. United, Argentina)
