The Seattle Sounders announced on Monday that the club will be unveiling the team’s MLS Cup championship banner for the home opener against the New York Red Bulls on March 19 (4 p.m. PT; FS1 | TICKETS), as well as limited-edition and championship-themed matchday giveaways presented by Western Washington Toyota.
The club also announced it will be expanding available seating at CenturyLink Field for the home opener due to increased demand.
“We’re thrilled at the excitement surrounding our upcoming home opener and, indeed, the entire 2017 season,” said Bart Wiley, Sounders FC’s Chief Operating Officer. “We have the best fans in MLS and the demand for additional seating shows just how dedicated this region is to supporting its Sounders. The club is looking forward to providing a special championship experience at the opener, in conjunction with the rest of the Championship Celebration events.”
The Sounders will also be putting on multiple events leading up to the home opener to celebrate the 2016 MLS Cup win.
Zach Scott’s testimonial match will take place on Wednesday, March 1, at Memorial Stadium before the Sounders participate in the monthly Pioneer Square Art Walk on Thursday, March 2. The NINETY will highlight the team’s participation in the art community with Posters by the People on exhibit and available for purchase with proceeds benefitting the RAVE Foundation.
There will be an official viewing party at The Atlantic Crossing for the club’s 2017 MLS regular-season opener against the Houston Dynamo on March 4, as well as a viewing party at The Westy for the team’s second match at the Montreal Impact on March 11.

The championship celebration will come to a close on Sunday, March 19, for the home opener when the Sounders play in Seattle for the first time in 2017. Single match tickets are now on sale here.
