Jordan Morris and Joevin Jones scored second-half goals within four minutes of each other, pacing the Seattle Sounders to a 2-0 victory over DC United at RFK Stadium. Morris netted for Seattle in the 79th minute, with Jones adding the insurance in the 83rd to give the Sounders the decisive 2-0 advantage. It was the first goal in a Sounders uniform for Jones, in his first season with Seattle after arriving in an offseason trade with the Chicago Fire.
The Seattle Sounders fell 2-0 in their road matchup with the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena on Sunday, courtesy of a brace from NYRB forward Mike Grella. With the loss, Seattle fell to 5-8-1 on the season in their first game back into MLS action following a two-week break from league play for the ongoing Copa America Centenario.
Frank Lampard scored a controversial goal in the first half and a typically porous NYCFC defense surprisingly did the rest at CenturyLink Field on Saturday, as the Seattle Sounders dropped their second straight game at home in a 2-0 loss.
