Clint Dempsey scored his first goal of the MLS season and the Seattle Sounders snapped a suffocating three-game losing streak in a 1-0 win over the visiting Montreal Impact on Saturday night at CenturyLink Field.
Chad Marshall scored a rare and dramatic goal on the final kick of the game and Seattle Sounders escaped with a 1-1 draw against the Houston Dynamo on Sunday at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston.
Jordan Morris scored his second goal in as many games and Stefan Frei made a dramatic penalty kick save, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Seattle Sounders’ three-game unbeaten streak alive in a 3-1 loss to the Colorado Rapids on Saturday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo.
The Sounders played without Clint Dempsey and Nelson Valdez, and lost captain Brad Evans to just his second career red card in the 86th minute.
Jordan Morris scored for the third consecutive game and the Seattle Sounders picked up their second shutout of the season in a 1-0 win over Columbus Crew SC at CenturyLink Field on Saturday.
The Sounders’ celebrated Homegrown signing pounced on a loose ball inside the Crew penalty box in the 88th minute after Crew goalkeeper Steve Clark parried a shot by Oalex Anderson, and the Mercer Island native thumped a left-footed shot into the back of the net for the game-winner.
The goal was a cathartic moment for the Sounders (3-4-1), who struggled all day to crack Clark and the reigning Eastern Conference champions in front of 39,473 fans. The win snapped the Crew’s two-game winning streak over the Sounders dating back to 2014 and also kept the Sounders unbeaten against Eastern Conference teams this season (3-0-0).
