MLS Experience
2010: Appeared in the 200th game of his career vs. Columbus (5/1). Started all seven appearances but was placed on injured reserve on July 30 due to a quadriceps strain.

2009: Provided some timely playmaking during second half of season as a parttime starter. Started nine of 14 appearances with two assists. Saw first action after offseason arthroscopic knee surgery, starting and playing 71 minutes at COL (5/23). First assist with Seattle came in his return to LA (8/15), taking a corner kick which led to a Fredy Montero goal. Earlier in the same game he was the recipient of a David Beckham foul which resulted in a red card. Split the DC defense with long upfield ball to Steve Zakuani for first goal of 2-1 win (9/12). Played full 90 minutes for first time in league play with Seattle vs. HOU (7/11). Started final three rounds of U.S. Open Cup, playing the full 90 minutes in two, including the final at DC (9/2).

2008: Played in 14 games, starting 11 for Los Angeles. Scored one goal and three assists.

2007: Appeared in 24 games while making 20 starts and tying a career-high with five assists for Los Angeles. Had first career multi-assist game, setting up two goals in Los Angeles’ 3-1 win over Colorado (9/8). His five assists placed him in a tie for second place on the team for the season. Collected one assist in two Open Cup games. Appeared in all five of Los Angeles’ SuperLiga games, starting two.

2006: Played in 25 games, making 24 starts, showing his strengths in the midfield and contributing two goals for Los Angeles.

2005: Enjoyed the finest season of his professional career.  Serving as the Galaxy’s captain from the outset, appeared in 29 regular season games, 28 of them in the starting XI, and played a career-high 2,478 minutes. Scored a career-high five goals and added four assists in the regular season. Perhaps his most important goal of the year was his game-winning tally in the 24th minute of the inaugural match of the Honda SuperClásico against Chivas USA (4/23), his first in the regular season since September 8, 2001.

2004: Appeared in a career-low of just 12 games, starting ten for Los Angeles with one assist. Was plagued by an abductor injury, missing 17 straight matches in the early and middle portions of the season. Played the full 90 minutes in each of the Galaxy's final six games of the year.

2003: Appeared in 20 games on the season and played every minute of every regular season game after the All-Star break for Los Angeles.

2002: Registered three assists for the year including one at Colorado (7/13). Appeared in a total of 17 games, making 16 starts. At Chicago (6/8) was sent off for the first and only time in his MLS career for a second caution in a 1-0 win over the Fire.

2001: Led the club in appearances with 26 and tallied three goals to go along with three assists for Los Angeles.

2000: Selected by Los Angeles in the second round (23rd overall) of the 2000 MLS SuperDraft. Scored  in MLS debut at New England (5/24), after replacing Danny Pena in the 77th minute. Finished the year having played in 16 games, making 12 starts, scoring three goals and adding an assist. Scored in back-to-back games at Miami (7/9) and vs. D.C. United (7/15), which remains the only time in MLS career he has scored in consecutive contests.

International Experience
Helped lead the 2004 Olympic squad to a fourth place finish in Sydney, Australia, the best U.S. finish ever. Led the team in scoring at the Olympics, scoring three times, including the only goal in the 3-1 loss to Spain in the semifinals. Has made two career appearances with the U.S. National Team, coming off the bench for the final four minutes of a 2-0 win over Mexico on 10/25/00 in Los Angeles and playing the final 23 minutes of a 4-0 win over Canada on 1/8/03.

College
Played four years at UCLA, the first three with Sigi Schmid as head coach. Had 15 goals and 30 assists in 82 career games for the Bruins and helped lead them to the 1997 NCAA Champ­ionship. During his four years at UCLA, the Bruins compiled a record of 74-13.

Born and raised in Pasadena, Vagenas is married to his wife Mindy. Parents are Alex and Tashiz Vagenas and he has three siblings, George, Theoni and Dino.
