  • 2011/12: Made seven appearances in Russia’s top-flight and seven more in all competitions in first full season with FC Rubin Kazan.
  • 2010/11: Signed with Russia’s FC Rubin Kazan, appearing in five matches before joining Birmingham City of the English Premier League on loan. Made six appearances with two goals before rejoining Rubin.
  • 2009/10: Spent one season with German Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg. Scored six goals in 16 league games (seven starts).
  • 2006-09: Joined Newcastle United of the English Premier League in 2006, scoring 28 goals in 88 league matches and 34 goals in 103 games across all competitions. Had highest-scoring season of professional career in 2006-07 when he scored 17 goals, including 11 goals in the EPL and six in UEFA Champions League play.
  • 2001-06: Began professional career with Internazionale in Italy’s Serie A. Scored 28 goals in 88 league games, and 38 goals in 112 appearances across all competitions. Helped Inter win the Serie A title in 2005-06, the Italian Cup in 2004-05 and 2005-06, and the Super Cup in 2005. Highest-scoring season with Inter was 11 goals in 31 league games and 17 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions (2004-05).
International Experience 
Made first appearance for Nigeria National Team on May 29, 2004 against Ireland. Has been capped 38 times and scored 18 goals in international play. Made two appearances in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, playing a total of 71 minutes in First Stage against Korea and Argentina. Played in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2006, 2008 and 2010. 

Personal
Born in Lagos, Nigeria began youth career in 1999 with FC Ebedei. Left Nigeria at age 16 to join Italy’s Reggiana. Made two first team appearances with Reggiana before joining Inter in 2001. Scored 23 goals for Inter’s youth team and won the Italian Under-18 title. Has two brothers, Oladipupo Olarotini Martins and John Ronan Martins, who play professionally.
