Strong Against Cancer’s Sounders FC Honorary Team Captains

Strong Against Cancer – an initiative inspired by immunotherapy discoveries at Seattle Children’s – is proud to team up with Sounders FC and Austen Everett Foundation to make this the beginning of the end of childhood cancer. Strong Against Cancer’s Sounders FC Honorary Team Captain is recognized at each match prior to kickoff and participates in the Zulily Dream Team by marching out of the tunnel with a Sounders FC player. Meet our 2019 Honorary Team Captains:

Feb. 20, 2019 – Gracin Casady, age 9
Gracin was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia B-Cell on March 6, 2018. Since then he has had numerous lunbar punctures, chemo treatments, testing, hospitalizations and so much more. Gracin has been a rockstar through it all. He is now in the maintenance phase of treatment which will last 2.5 years. He always remains positive and wants to give hope to kids that have to go through the same things he has gone through. Gracin has loved sports since he was little. He loves soccer, baseball and football.

March 2, 2019 – Jackson Kinnaman, age 8
Jackson was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin’s lymphoma a day before his 8th birthday. He has been a sports fan for as long as he can remember! In his free time you can find him reading, playing Mario Kart, or shooting hoops with his friends!

March 9, 2019 – Daxton Stanford, age 9
Daxton was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma in October 2018 and now has 15 months of chemotherapy to complete in Spokane, Wash. Daxton is very respectful; a hard worker and he doesn’t give up! When he goes to appointments, he always has a smile on his face and jokes around with his nurses and family.


April 6, 2019 — Shane Ok, age 6
Shane was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma in 2016 and is in remission! Shane enjoys Minecraft, legos, and reading. He has loved sports and athletes since he was 3 and in cancer treatment at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

April 13, 2019 – Gavin Reed, age 11
Gavin was diagnosed with High Risk Pre-B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2017. Gavin is a hard worker and go-getter! Román Torres is his favorite Sounders FC player.

April 24, 2019 – Layla Beckstrand, age 5
At 18 months, Layla was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma. Layla is a positive fighter through it all! All her nurses say she is one of the most grateful kids they have ever met.

April 28, 2019 – Blake Williams, age 9
Two days before Thanksgiving in 2017, Blake was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  Blake loves science experiments and playing with his dog! His favorite position in soccer is goalie.

May 11, 2019 – Cash Lawrence, age 7
In November 2016, Cash was diagnosed with a Stage 3 Wilms Tumor. After 6 rounds of radiation and 25 weeks of chemotherapy, Cash is now in remission. He loves marital arts and gymnastics.

May 15, 2019 – Solomon Haufano age 5
Solomon was diagnosed with a Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor last May. He underwent 8 long months of aggressive chemotherapy and radiation and is now is remission! Solomon loves playing the drums and dancing!
