Strong Against Cancer’s Sounders FC Honorary Team Captains

Strong Against Cancer – an initiative inspired by immunotherapy discoveries at Seattle Children’s – is proud to team up with Sounders FC and Austen Everett Foundation to make this the beginning of the end of childhood cancer. Strong Against Cancer’s Sounders FC Honorary Team Captain is recognized at each match prior to kickoff and participates in the Zulily Dream Team by marching out of the tunnel with a Sounders FC player. Meet our 2019 Honorary Team Captains:

Feb. 20, 2019 – Gracin Casady, age 9
Gracin was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia B-Cell on March 6, 2018. Since then he has had numerous lunbar punctures, chemo treatments, testing, hospitalizations and so much more. Gracin has been a rockstar through it all. He is now in the maintenance phase of treatment which will last 2.5 years. He always remains positive and wants to give hope to kids that have to go through the same things he has gone through. Gracin has loved sports since he was little. He loves soccer, baseball and football.

March 2, 2019 – Jackson Kinnaman, age 8
Jackson was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin’s lymphoma a day before his 8th birthday. He has been a sports fan for as long as he can remember! In his free time you can find him reading, playing Mario Kart, or shooting hoops with his friends!

March 9, 2019 – Daxton Stanford, age 9
Daxton was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma in October 2018 and now has 15 months of chemotherapy to complete in Spokane, Wash. Daxton is very respectful; a hard worker and he doesn’t give up! When he goes to appointments, he always has a smile on his face and jokes around with his nurses and family.

April 6, 2019 — Shane Ok, age 6
Shane was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma in 2016 and is in remission! Shane enjoys Minecraft, legos, and reading. He has loved sports and athletes since he was 3 and in cancer treatment at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

April 13, 2019 – Gavin Reed, age 11
Gavin was diagnosed with High Risk Pre-B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2017. Gavin is a hard worker and go-getter! Román Torres is his favorite Sounders FC player.

April 24, 2019 – Layla Beckstrand, age 5
At 18 months, Layla was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma. Layla is a positive fighter through it all! All her nurses say she is one of the most grateful kids they have ever met.

April 28, 2019 – Blake Williams, age 9
Two days before Thanksgiving in 2017, Blake was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  Blake loves science experiments and playing with his dog! His favorite position in soccer is goalie.

May 11, 2019 – Cash Lawrence, age 7
In November 2016, Cash was diagnosed with a Stage 3 Wilms Tumor. After 6 rounds of radiation and 25 weeks of chemotherapy, Cash is now in remission. He loves marital arts and gymnastics.

May 15, 2019 – Solomon Haufano age 5
Solomon was diagnosed with a Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor last May. He underwent 8 long months of aggressive chemotherapy and radiation and is now is remission! Solomon loves playing the drums and dancing!

June 29, 2019 – Thomas Batanoiu age 9
Thomas was diagnosed with T-Cell Leukemia in December of 2018. He is still in treatment and fighting hard! Thomas loves the Sounders, especially Jordan Morris!

July 14, 2019 – Maya Gladhart, age 10
Maya was diagnosed with a Wilms’ tumor in 2016, but is currently in remission. Her favorite Sounders player is Nico Lodeiro!

July 21, 2019 – Hunter Jones, age 6
Hunter was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neroblastoma in 2017. She is now in remission! Hunter is a big fan of Russell Wilson and loves to play soccer!

August 4, 2019 – Kade Ross, age 5
Kade was diagnosed with brain cancer at 13 months old and is currently in remission. Kade loves spending time with her siblings!

August 10, 2019 – Alyssa Neat, age 5
Alyssa was diagnosed with stage 4 high risk Neuroblastoma at the age of 3 and is still fighting. She loves to make her doctors and nurses laugh and play and she always helped everyone at the Ronald McDonald House. Alyssa’s favorite thing to do was help the volunteers and house managers set up or clean up!

September 1, 2019 – Emmanuel Gonzalez, age 9

Emmanuel was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2017 and is currently in remission! He is a Sounders fan and his favorite player is Clint Dempsey. Emmanuel loves soccer and has been playing since he was 5! 

September 15, 2019 – Liam Senrud, age 5

Liam was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when he was 4 years old. Liam likes to play sports and play around in our backyard. He wants to play on a team with other kids, but isn’t able to do so currently because of his cancer diagnosis.
