Sounders FC: Authentic Masterpiece to be published in Brazil

SEATTLE, WASH.Sounders FC: Authentic Masterpiece, Mike Gastineau’s 2013 book detailing the launch of Seattle’s MLS franchise, has been translated into Portuguese and is now available for purchase in Brazil, courtesy of publishing company Editora Grande Area. Gastineau’s insider account of one of the most successful expansion franchise launches in professional sports history – complete with oral testimonies from Sounders FC owners, coaches and players – was initially published in October of 2013.

As part of today’s release, Editora Grande Area is hosting a launch party in the Museum of Soccer at Paulo’s Pacaembu Stadium in São Paulo. The event goes from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. BT (3:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT) and includes a discussion of the team’s success and sports management lessons that can be utilized by Brazilian sports leaders.

With an ownership group led by Seattle-based entrepreneur Adrian Hanauer, Hollywood executive Joe Roth, Seattle Seahawks Chairman Paul G. Allen and entertainer Drew Carey, the club received an MLS charter on November 13, 2007 and has reached the MLS Cup Playoffs in every year of its existence.
