Sounders FC seek fans to present Dale Chihuly's Emerald Spire to team captains at Boca Juniors and Celtic FC matches.
RENTON, Wash. – The Seattle Sounders FC and Chihuly Studio announced today an opportunity for a Sounders FC fan aged 16 years or younger to participate in pre-match activities prior to this year’s Boca Junior’s match on May 26 and Celtic FC match on July 18 at Qwest Field. The winner will also receive a glassblowing demonstration at Chihuly Studio to see how the Emerald Spire award was created.
Fans are invited to submit an essay of 200 words or less on how the nominee best exemplifies the Sounders FC core values: Passion, Community, Courage and Excellence. Winners will be selected by a Sounders FC front office committee and members of Team Chihuly.
Dale Chihuly created the striking Emerald Spire that features a unique mirrored surface based on Chihuly’s Venetian series of hand-blown glass. The artwork which boasts an emerald feather stands approximately 20” high and measures 5” in width at its base.
Last year, renowned artist Dale Chihuly announced that he would create a unique piece of commemorative artwork to be presented to the Seattle Sounders FC friendly opponents.
