Sounders FC and SUBWAY Partner for Two Family Fitness Nights

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue and South Puget Sound will have two Family Fitness Nights on Tuesday, July 12, and Thursday, July 21

RENTON, Wash. - Seattle Sounders FC, Seattle-Tacoma SUBWAY Restaurants and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue andSouth Puget Sound will partner for two Family Fitness Nights on Tuesday, July 12, and Thursday, July 21, the club announced today.


Sounders FC defender James Riley will offer eating and exercise advice during the two-hour fitness night on July 12 in Bellevue. Families will be led through a series of interactive exercises including: soccer drills, basketball, jump rope and line dancing. Seattle-Tacoma SUBWAY restaurants will provide healthy sandwiches and Sounders FC prizes to families in attendance.


The partnership between Seattle-Tacoma SUBWAY Restaurants and Seattle Sounders FC was developed to provide health and fitness programming to youth and parents in order to pursue healthier lifestyles.


According to the Centers for Disease Control's National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (2007-2008), approximately 68 percent of adults are overweight or obese, with 75 million adult Americans considered obese. In the past 30 years, the prevalence of childhood obesity has more than doubled among children ages 2-5, has tripled among youth ages 6-11, and has more than tripled among adolescents ages 12-19.
