Sounders FC will make their return to Cheney Stadium, but this time as guests of the Tacoma Rainiers as they take on the Tucson Padres on July 25.
On May 12, a Rave Green army invaded Cheney Stadium in Tacoma when the Sounders FC reserves met Orlando City SC of the USL Pro in a Reserve League match at the historic baseball stadium.
On Thursday, July 25, the Rave Green will be back as the Tacoma Rainiers host Sounders FC Night at Cheney Stadium. Lamar Neagle will be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch as the Rainiers meet the Tucson Padres. Neagle will also sign autographs outside the stadium from 6-6:30 before the game’s 7:05 p.m. start.
Not only will the first 2,000 fans to cross the turnstiles receive a free Sounders FC and Rainiers co-branded scarf, but the Rainiers will be playing in Sounders FC inspired jerseys that will be auctioned postgame for the five Sounders FC Community Partners – America SCORES Seattle; Boys & Girls Clubs of King County and Bellevue; Special Olympics Washington; Washington Global Health Alliance and Washington Youth Soccer.
