WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sounders FC gets back to MLS play on Saturday night against D.C. United at RFK Stadium as Seattle aims to continue to distance itself from the pack atop the MLS standings.

After a three-week break from league play for the World Cup break, Head Coach Sigi Schmid has his team rested and ready with a strong lineup ready to take the field.

Stefan Frei continues in his starting role after backstopping Seattle to the best record in the league through the first 15 matches and will have a backline of Brad Evans and Leo Gonzalez flanking the central pair of Chad Marshall and Jalil Anibaba.

In the midfield, Osvaldo Alonso returns to the field after being rested in Seattle’s two U.S. Open Cup matches over the break. He will partner with Gonzalo Pineda with Lamar Neagle manning the right wing and Marco Pappa on the left.

At forward, Kenny Cooper gets the nod along with Chad Barrett.

Seattle continues to play without U.S. National Team captain Clint Dempsey and youngster DeAndre Yedlin while the duo prepare for Tuesday’s Round of 16 match against Belgium. Obafemi Martins will also miss Saturday’s match while serving a red card suspension. He is slated to return in Seattle’s next match, next week against Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
