SoundersFC.com weren’t the only ones hosting a Live Facebook Q&A on Thursday. While we sat down with former Sounders midfielder and current broadcast team member Steve Zakuani to talk about this weekend’s matchup, the LA Galaxy chatted it up with midfielder Steven Gerrard about plenty of things, including his favorite MLS venues.
His answer might surprise you.
While the former Liverpool man said that he obviously enjoys the stadiums he’s called home over the years, including Anfield and StubHub Center, CenturyLink Field ranks among his top venues.
"In terms of atmosphere and numbers and a crowd that gets behind the team, I've really enjoyed the battles against Seattle," Gerrard said. "Even though we've never gotten the results we want against them in the playoffs, I've really enjoyed going there."
"They're very supportive of the team," Gerrard added about Seattle fans, noting it feels similar to his experiences in Europe. "They get behind them, they all come in green and when you walk out there, it does feel like a real big intimidating atmosphere."
Gerrard has played at CenturyLink Field twice since joining the Galaxy last summer, once in a 1-1 draw last October and then in the Sounders' 3-2 win in the Western Conference Knockout Round later that month. The Galaxy will play their first game in Seattle this year on July 31.
