The 21-year-old second-year player from the University of Washington has three goals and three assists in 27 matches this season. He has made a huge leap from his rookie season, starting twice as many matches and solidifying his starting role in defensive midfield alongside Ozzie Alonso.
“I liked him before he really started to play on a regular basis,” said a technical staffer on Roldan. “He’s a midfielder that can change the play, switch it from side to side well. He’s got a good range of passing. He’s one that you don’t necessarily think he’s a great athlete, but he covers the pitch well and puts his foot in. He can mix it up tackling, but he’s also got the technical side as well. I think he’s a very good player, and I think he’ll end up being an even better player in the league.”
