#ThisMoment: Brad Evans lifts Seattle Sounders past Colorado Rapids in 2013 Knockout Round

Editor’s Note: In celebration of the Seattle Sounders #ThisMoment 2016 playoff campaign, we’re taking a look back at the moments that defined Sounders playoff runs of the past.

The Seattle Sounders will appear in the the Knockout Round of the MLS Cup Playoffs for the third time in their history this week, looking for their third win in as many tries.

Oct 30, 2013, the Sounders found themselves in the clutches of the MLS' do-or-die match against the Colorado Rapids and within the friendly confines of CenturyLink Field. A newly added Clint Dempsey started the match fresh off of his first goal in Rave Green three days prior in the final regular season match. However, it was his United States teammate who drew first blood in the 28th minute of the match.

Forward Eddie Johnson found defender Leo Gonzalez on a lively overlapping run. His ensuing cross was met by Rapids defenders, but it didn’t clear. Instead, it fell to Brad Evans, loitering on the right side of box wide open after Gonzalez’s cross had drawn opposing defenders deep into the area.

Then Evans had his moment.

He received the ball coolly off his chest and ripped it into the far post netting for the Sounders' first goal of their 2013 playoff campaign. Johnson added a second tally deep in stoppage time to seal the win, 2-0.
