SEATTLE, WASH. - Sounders FC today announced a number of civic activations scheduled to take place throughout the Puget Sound region in the coming days, as community institutions join with the club to spread excitement and pride around the greater metropolitan area surrounding the Audi 2016 MLS Cup Playoffs Western Conference Championship.

Several iconic area landmarks plan to light-up Rave Green next week, while additional events, from flag raisings to celebrations with Woodland Park Zoo and Seattle Aquarium, are also scheduled prior to Tuesday's pivotal postseason match against Colorado at CenturyLink Field (7:00 p.m. PT / FS1, FOX Deportes, TSN, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360 AM).

Members of the media interested in covering any of the events listed below should contact Kelly Schutz of Sounders FC Communications [KellyS@SoundersFC.com / 828-442-9778] for additional information.

TEAM ACTIVATIONS

  • As the Seattle Seahawks take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, November 20, special guests from Sounders FC will be in attendance - including Head Coach Brian Schmetzer and 2016 AT&T MLS Rookie of the Year Jordan Morris - with members of the Rave Green involved in a second-quarter salute to the club's playoff journey.

COMMUNITY ACTIVATIONS

  • Washington State Ferries from Seattle to both Bainbridge Island and Bremerton are flying Sounders FC flags on Monday, November 21 and Tuesday, November 22 in advance of the showdown with Colorado.
  • Woodland Park Zoo has residents giving their full 90, as soccer balls are incorporated into several of the animals' life enrichment programs on Friday, November 18, including grizzly bears, wolves, otters and penguins. Scheduled timing for media photo opportunities is 1:30-2:15 p.m. and media interested in covering the event should contact Gigi Allianic or Alissa Wolken at 206-548-2550 or woodlandparkzoopr@zoo.org.

The zoo is also offering a special discount to Sounders FC fans, who can obtain $3 off zoo admission from November 19-20 simply by wearing an item of Sounders FC sportswear when visiting.
  • Seattle Aquarium furthers Sounders spirit both on dry land and below the waves, as divers plunge into the waters of the Puget Sound in the aquarium's Windows on Washington Waters display to parade Sounders FC scarves, while harbor seals and river otters join in with soccer ball enrichment. Sea otters are also set to enjoy soccer-themed ice treats.

The Scheduled timing for media photo opportunities of the animals is taking place on Friday, November 18. Media interested in obtaining video and / or still photography of the events at Seattle Aquarium can contact Sounders FC Communications or Tim Kuniholm [T.Kuniholm@seattleaquarium.org] and Pam Lamon [P.Lamon@seattleaquarium.org].

LIGHTING ACTIVATIONS

  • Columbia Center is set to "go green" in its efforts to support Sounders FC on the night of the club's opening Western Conference Championship match on Tuesday, November 22.
  • The Seattle Great Wheel is set to shine Rave Green around the Puget Sound on Monday, November 21 and Tuesday, November 22.
  • Pacific Science Center plans to light its arches Rave Green on Monday, November 21 and Tuesday, November 22.
  • CenturyLink Field and its recognizable arches are scheduled to light Rave Green on Monday, November 21 and Tuesday, November 22.

After an unprecedented comeback earlier this fall, in which the team made MLS history by moving from ninth place in the Western Conference in August into postseason position by season's end, Sounders FC now prepares for the Western Conference Championship, having beaten Sporting Kansas City in the Knockout Round and bested 2016 Supporters' Shield-winner FC Dallas over the course of the two-match Conference Semifinals.

Seattle hosts the first leg of the two-game series on Tuesday, November 22 on the Xbox Pitch at CenturyLink Field (7:00 p.m. PT / FS1, FOX Deportes, TSN, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360 AM). The return leg is being played at Colorado's Dick's Sporting Goods Park at 1:00 p.m. PT on Sunday, November 27.

The Conference Championship is held over two legs, with aggregate goals determining which team moves on to the 2016 MLS Cup. In the event that both teams score an equal number of goals over the course of the two matches, the team with the greater number of road goals for the series advances. Should the series be tied for both total goals and away goals, the teams play two 15-minute periods of extra time at the conclusion of the second leg in which away goals do not count. This is followed by penalty kicks, if necessary, to determine the winner.
