Seattle Sounders midfielder Andreas Ivanschitz to miss fourth straight game with knee injury

TUKWILA, Wash. – Midfielder Andreas Ivanschitz will miss his fourth straight game with a knee injury when the Seattle Sounders open the Western Conference Semifinals against FC Dallas this weekend.


Ivanshchitz suffered a sprained right knee in the opening minutes of the team’s scoreless draw against the Houston Dynamo on Oct. 12 and has not played since missing the final two games of the regular season and the team’s 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City in the Knockout Round on Thursday night.


Ivanschitz has three goals and eight assists in 28 appearances this year and scored one goal in three postseason games for the Sounders last year.


The Sounders will host FC Dallas in the first leg of the conference semifinals on Sunday (6:30 p.m.; FS1/KIRO 97.3 FM/El Rey 1360AM) before playing the return leg on Nov. 6 in Frisco, Texas.
