MATCH RECAP: Tacoma Defiance Falls 3-1 to Colorado Rapids 2 Sunday Night at Starfire Stadium

TUKWILA, WASH. – Tacoma Defiance (10-5-7, 41 points) fell 3-1 to Colorado Rapids 2 (14-3-5, 51 points) Sunday night at Starfire Stadium. Tacoma remains in first place in the Pacific Division, six points above Earthquakes II, and third place in the Western Conference.

Colorado Rapids 2 struck first in the eighth minute, with Dillon Serna sending in a low free kick from just outside the area past the hands of Defiance goalkeeper Jacob Castro. The away side doubled its lead when Yosuke Hanya converted a penalty kick in the 60th minute before adding another penalty goal via Rémi Cabral in second-half stoppage time.

Gio Miglietti pulled one back for Tacoma in the 72nd minute, volleying a deflected cross into the back of the net. The strike marked Miglietti’s fifth goal of the year, second on the team.

Following today’s contest, Wade Webber’s side travels to take on North Texas SC on Saturday, August 19 at Choctaw Stadium (5:30 p.m. PT / MLSNEXTPro.com).
