TUKWILA, WASH. – Tacoma Defiance (7-3-5, 29 points) defeated Houston Dynamo 2 (6-7-2, 22 points) 1-0 Sunday evening at Starfire Stadium. Dylan Teves scored early in the first half as Tacoma kept the clean sheet to give the home side all three points.

Teves scored his first of the year Defiance in the 18th minute, receiving a ball off a deflection in the right corner of the area and slotting a shot past the outstretched arms of Houston’s Xavier Valdez.

The win marked the third straight for Tacoma, and second consecutive shutout. Defiance goalkeeper Andrew Thomas has only allowed one goal in Tacoma’s last three matches, highlighted by a four-save performance in tonight’s clean sheet.

With the result, Tacoma moves into a tie for first place in the Pacific Division with Whitecaps FC 2, both with 29 points, with two games in hand.

Following tonight’s contest, Wade Webber’s side stays at home to take on North Texas SC on Sunday, July 9 at Starfire Stadium (8:00 p.m. PT / MLSNEXTPro.com).
