Raúl Ruidíaz has been named Major League Soccer Player of the Matchday for Matchday 8 following his performance in the Sounders 5-0 victory over CF Montréal on Saturday night. This is the fifth time he's been honored with this accolade.

Ruidíaz scored the first two goals on Saturday night, bringing his all-time Sounders scoring record to 82 and ultimately leading the Sounders to their first victory of the season.

In the 20th minute, Ruidíaz's left-footed half-volley toward the far post earned the team its first lead of the night. Then in the 27th minute, he converted a penalty kick into the team's second goal of the evening, darting the shot into the left corner of the net. He also recorded an assist after he slipped in Albert Rusnák, who crossed the ball to the back post for Alex Roldan to finish one-time in the 81st minute.

Ruidíaz closed out the match with 11 shots, six of which were on target, and a 97.1 percent passing rate.

The Sounders return to action on April 13 as they travel to Texas to take on FC Dallas (5:30 p.m. PT; Watch on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV) at Toyota Stadium.
