The Tacoma Defiance were named the second-best team in the league in MLSNEXTPro.com’s Week 9 Power Rankings on Monday.
Coming off a comprehensive 2-0 victory over Colorado Rapids 2 on Sunday, the Defiance vaulted up the leaderboard of the most in-form teams in the league. Two goals in the second half from Dylan Teves and Marlon Vargas saw the Defiance pick up three points on the road for the first time this season.
With the latest result, the Defiance now sit third in the Western Conference on 17 points, boasting a five-match unbeaten run.
“Led by 23-year-old goalkeeper Andrew Thomas and a solid backline, Defiance has kept two clean sheets over their five-game undefeated stretch,” wrote MLSNEXTPro.com’s Ramon Chavez.
In addition to their fantastic defensive numbers, the Defiance also have the league’s leading scorer in Homegrown Player Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez, who has found the back of the net six times from nine appearances.
