Leveraging the power of sport, MLS WORKS, ESPN and Special Olympics have teamed up to promote an environment of social inclusion, which is aligned with the League's Soccer For All platform. Cornerstone to the collaboration is the Special Olympics Unified Sports® Soccer Exchange Program, uniting individuals with intellectual disabilities (Special Olympics athletes) and individuals without intellectual disabilities (Unified partners) as members of one team.
Special Olympics Washington Unified Soccer program promotes social inclusion through shared soccer training and competition experiences for individuals with and without intellectual disabilities. By collaborating on signing day and exchange matches, Sounders FC provides Special Olympics Washington Unified Athletes with opportunities to shine.
Kick Childhood Cancer
During September, Major League Soccer and Continental Tire will team up to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer. Now in its 7th year, the Kick Childhood Cancer campaign aims to find better cures for all types of childhood cancer, and now more than ever, provide support to one of the most vulnerable populations affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Sounders FC kicks childhood cancer throughout the year by creating inspiring and empowering experiences for youth battling cancer and their families.
Soccer for All
Sounders FC and Major League Soccer are dedicated to supporting the communities where we live and play, and to providing an environment in which our staff, players, partners and fans are treated with dignity and respect. Soccer For All signifies that everyone is welcome to MLS, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status.
