Sounders FC forward Clint Dempsey and former Seattle defender DeAndre Yedlin are among the five nominees for the 2015 U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year, the federation announced on Monday.

Yedlin, who only made his USMNT debut with the team last year, is up for the award for the first time in his career.

The other nominees are midfielder Michael Bradley, goalkeeper Brad Guzan and defender Fabian Johnson.

Votes will be collected from national team and youth national team coaches and staff, USMNT players who have earned a cap in 2014, Major League Soccer and North American Soccer League head coaches, select media members, former players and administrators. The winner be announced on Friday, Dec. 18.

After a breakout performance at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Yedlin continued to earn his chops with the USMNT this year, playing in 19 of 20 matches, second only behind Bradley in 2015. Yedlin also record five assists.
