Clint Dempsey is one of the most accomplished athletes in American soccer history. An unstoppable competitor on the pitch, he was a prolific scorer in the English Premier League and with the U.S. Men’s National Team. He inspired a generation of players and fans alike to reimagine what was possible for American soccer players on the global stage during his 15-year stint as a professional.
Now, fans have the chance to dive deep on Dempsey’s journey to stardom on Paramount+ with his new docuseries “You Don't Know Where I'm From, Dawg.” Beginning in his early days when he was first introduced to soccer by his brother, Ryan in Nacogdoches, Texas, to his life as a father of six living in North Carolina, this five-episode program takes viewers through all stages of his life in and outside the sport — including his time with the Seattle Sounders.
Following his six-year stint in the English Premier League, Dempsey made the move to the Sounders in 2013, where he finished out his professional career. The American icon helped Seattle to win the 2014 Supporters’ Shield and U.S. Open Cup, and was a member of the squad that went to back-to-back MLS Cup Finals in 2016 and 2017. Episode Four delve into his decision to join the Rave Green and the outcome of his experience through a series of interviews with Dempsey, his family, Owner Adrian Hanauer and former teammates like Eddie Johnson.
"If I'm being honest with you, I kind of wanted to go to Texas [for MLS]. I'm not going to lie about that," said Dempsey. "But, Seattle really just ended up being a perfect place."
