Ahead of this week’s renewal deadline for Sounders FC’s eighth season in MLS, here are eight reasons why you should Renew For Life by this Friday, September 18.
CenturyLink Field Atmosphere
For the seventh straight season, Sounders FC is poised to lead MLS in attendance. Considering there are two more full-stadium matches remaining in the 2015 campaign, the Rave Green have a good shot of breaking their own attendance record this season (44,038 on average in 2013).
There’s little surprise why supporters flood CenturyLink Field on matchday. The epic chants. The incredible tifos. Not to mention FLAME TOWERS.
CenturyLink Field is so cool that it’s now featured in FIFA 16 – the only American-based MLS venue to be included in the game. With the announcement of a 10-year extension in March, the Rave Green will continue to call CenturyLink Field home through 2028.
International Matches
When you renew with Sounders FC, you’re guaranteed to have 19 matches in your ticket package each season. Even though there are 17 home matches in the MLS regular season, more soccer matches means there is more soccer to be enjoyed. And more soccer is never a bad thing.
Whether it’s a Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League clash for regional supremacy or a star-studded international friendly, renewing your season tickets ensures you will be able to delight in soccer experiences beyond league action.
Spectacular Goals
Variations of scoring in soccer include goals, impressive goals and remarkably-astounding-beyond-logical-comprehension goals. The latter tends to happen quite often at CenturyLink Field. With preeminent playmakers such as Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins representing the Rave Green on the pitch, jaws are sure to drop when the host club finagles scoring tallies past bewildered goalkeepers.
In just this season alone, the Sounders have won four AT&T Goal of the Week honors at CenturyLink Field. Last season, Martins won the 2014 AT&T Goal of the Year with a jaw-dropping golazo from an improbable angle. In 2012, Seattle defender Patrick Ianni won the yearly award for a flying, side-winding volley off a set piece.

Full Season of the Summer Signings
Sounders FC brought in a bevy of new players this past summer, including a trio of splashy signings during the month of August.
We’ve already seen glimpses of what Nelson Valdez, Andreas Ivanschitz and Román Torres bring to the table, but a full season with them could do wonders for the squad. Valdez and Ivanschitz have helped the club improve in the attacking third, especially on set pieces. Torres immediately showed why many consider him the best defender in CONCACAF, but unfortunately suffered a season-ending knee injury last weekend against the San Jose Earthquakes.
Exciting Visiting Teams
Whether it’s Kaká of Orlando City SC, Didier Drogba of the Montreal Impact or Andrea Pirlo of New York City FC, some of soccer’s biggest names made the move to MLS this year. When attending a league fixture at CenturyLink Field in 2016, you are bound to see some formidable opposing players on the pitch. And while much of the star power might be in the Eastern Conference, Seattle’s conference has proven to be the stronger of the two this season.
Winning Tradition
Hanging from the rafters at CenturyLink Field are the four Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup banners the Rave Green have earned since entering MLS in 2009. The club’s four Open Cups are unmatched by any MLS team save for the Chicago Fire, which won its last title nearly a decade ago.
In addition, Seattle won its first Supporters’ Shield in 2014 and is on the verge of clinching its second Cascadia Cup trophy. Since joining the league as an expansion side seven years ago, Sounders FC has reached the postseason every year and consistently competed for trophies.
Pre-Match Festivities
In addition to the epic March to the Match, some really cool events have taken place at The NINETY, the club’s space located at 406 Occidental Avenue that opened in March. Meet-and-greets, raffles for prizes and guest speakers are among the many activities that fans can participate in before matches. Plus, Soccer Celebration at the Northwest Gate consists of fun festivities such as music, inflatable games and face painting.
Rookies Taking the Next Step
Sounders FC has relied on many of its rookies this year, namely Oniel Fisher and Cristian Roldan.
A second-round pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, Fisher emerged as the club’s starting leftback in the last couple of months. Roldan, meanwhile, has made 21 appearances and 11 starts in the midfield after being selected 16th overall in the draft.
First-year forwards Darwin Jones, Victor Mansaray and Andy Craven, along with goalkeeper Charlie Lyon, have all made great strides while spending most of the season with S2. With one professional season under their belt, look for some of these rookies to take the next step and make a name for themselves in 2016.
