When you’re a Sounder, you’re a Sounder for life – and nobody sums up that sentiment better than Steve Zakuani.
From becoming the first-ever Sounders FC MLS draft pick in 2009, to blazing up and down the sideline channels at Lumen Field, to now elevating the Sounders FC TV and radio broadcasts, Steve has and will continue to be a leader in the Rave Green community.

A former teammate (Patrick Ianni), a former college and MLS coach (Caleb Porter), and another former teammate and current front office colleague (Taylor Graham) all joined the Side x Side podcast to not just celebrate its 100th episode, but its OG host, Steve Zakuani. He launched the podcast prior to the 2018 season under the name "Winging it with Zakuani." Brad Evans joined as co-host last season, then the podcast changed to "Side x Side" as a nod to the Jimi Hendrix lyrics written on the team's new secondary kits.
“I couldn’t have asked to be drafted to a better situation, and there’s a reason, 12 years later, that I’m living in Seattle. I love this place. I’m associated with the club, I still drive to Lumen Field on game day, I still have that association. I still care whether we win or lose… for me, it’s just been a journey that you can’t script out.”
