Best Rivalry in American Soccer

The Doubleheader on June 3 marks one of the biggest days of the year in Seattle sports.

The rivalry between the Seattle Sounders and the Portland Timbers is unmatched in the men’s side of American soccer, with these two historic clubs battling it out since the NASL days in the 1970’s. OL Reign’s rivalry with the Thorns is as intense as it gets on the NWSL side, as the two clubs consistently compete for trophies on an annual basis. With the amount of tension heading into both matches, you won't want to miss Seattle and Portland go to battle for regional supremacy.

NWSL Attendance Record

The OL Reign saw a record breaking 27,248 fans at Lumen Field in the Seattle teams’ first doubleheader iteration in 2021. With the San Diego Wave still holding the highest NWSL attendance record of 32,000 supporters in a single-match, Saturday’s Doubleheader presents an opportunity for PNW soccer fans to raise the bar once again and make NWSL history by surpassing the figure set by the Southern California team last year.

Premier Soccer Experience

Saturday’s event will showcase the elite soccer talent that is a hallmark of the PNW. The Sounders sit atop the Western Conference standings and will host a resurgent Timbers side that has climbed into the playoff spots after a slow start to the campaign. The Reign occupy the No. 3 spot in the NWSL standings and will take on a Thorns team that resides one spot ahead of them.
